Manchester United release their historic new 2018/19 season home kit

Manchester United have released their new 2018/19 home kit.

Fans will see the players don their new look during the club's pre-season tour of America.

Richard Arnold, the Group Managing Director of Manchester United, said in a statement on manutd.com: “There are many great moments in this club’s fantastic history, and none more important than the year the club was founded, back in 1878. This shirt from adidas pays homage to the year we were founded, and marks 140 years of footballing success."

When formed in 1878, they were known as Newton Heath Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway and wore green and yellow. They even paid tribute to this in their away kit (1992-1994).

“The train track graphic on the shirt is a reference to the origins of the club," Arnold explained.

And, as it's Man United, an unveiling wouldn't be complete without a flashy video, which they tweeted to accompany the announcement.
