Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is set to be sidelined for around three weeks with a hamstring injury.
The long-serving midfielder was forced off in the second half of last Wednesday’s dramatic win over Newcastle United and sat out the Merseyside derby stalemate at Goodison.
Henderson underwent a scan on Friday which confirmed that he only suffered a minor strain. He will miss Wednesday’s Champions League opener away to Napoli and is also expected to be absent for the upcoming games against Wolves, Ajax and Chelsea.

The 32-year-old hasn’t given up hope of being fit in time for England’s Nations League matches against Italy and Germany later this month.
However, if they come too soon then he should certainly be back available for Liverpool’s first game after the international break, at home to Brighton on October 1.
Henderson’s absence coincides with the return of Thiago, who was back in training at Kirkby on Monday after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Jurgen Klopp must decide whether the Spain international is ready to make his comeback against Napoli. The Liverpool manager could also hand a debut to loan signing Arthur, who was an unused substitute at Goodison.
Fabio Carvalho is a doubt after being taken off in the derby with a dead leg. Curtis Jones will also be assessed after missing the game against Everton.
